Lorentz: toward 1.5-second blocks

The first step toward faster blocks

Lorentz completed on BSC mainnet, shrinking the block interval in the first phase to 1.5 seconds via BEP-520, providing timelier feedback for on-chain applications.

How it happened

Lorentz is the mainnet hard-fork release of BSC v1.5.10; its core change is BEP-520. The 29 April 2025 upgrade focused on a shorter block interval as the first phase in the performance roadmap.

What it changed

A shorter block interval reduced the time to produce blocks, giving more timely on-chain feedback for transaction-heavy applications and paving the way for Maxwell's further acceleration. Block interval is not equivalent to finality time for all transactions.
