opBNB mainnet publicly launches
A new layer, a wider horizon
opBNB mainnet went live publicly. This OP Stack–based, EVM-compatible BNB Chain Layer 2 network targets lower-cost and higher-performance transactions.
How it happened
The team announced on 13 September 2023 that opBNB mainnet would be publicly available that day. Prior to mainnet launch, a testnet had been running since 19 June and underwent transaction and stress testing, security audits, and high-availability validation consistent with mainnet standards.
What it changed
opBNB advanced BNB Smart Chain’s scaling path to a publicly usable stage, expanding deployment options for projects and infrastructure providers and creating new interfaces for future cross-chain collaboration.
